Black Ruby Imperial Stout is a rich dark imperial stout infused with cacao nibs, coffee, and raspberries, bursting with intense roasted coffee and bitter chocolate flavours, rich velvety mouthfeel and lingering raspberry notes. Please note cans have a date error printed on the label. The correct best before is in 2028 and is printed directly on the can (and hand redated on most). The beer was made in late 2025.

The bugs on the label are Wellington’s Forest Wētā (or giant cricket). They like the dark. So do we.

Brewers Notes
An 'imperial' is a type of beer that uses twice the malt in the same volume of water as a typical beer. The extra malt means extra sugar for the yeast to eat and thus extra alcohol and flavour. This imperial stout was first brewed for GABS 2016 as our festival beer.
